Create New Password-Protected RAR with WinRAR

  1. Install WinRAR on your Windows PC
  2. Select your files, then right-click
  3. Choose "Add to archive..."
  4. Click "Set password..."
  5. Enter and confirm your password
  6. Select "Encrypt file names" for maximum security
  7. Click "OK" (saves in the original folder)

Add Password to Existing RAR/ZIP Files

Secure existing archives by converting them to password-protected formats:
  1. Open the archive in WinRAR
  2. Press Alt+Q (Convert Archives)
  3. Click Compression... > Set password...
  4. Enter your password and click "OK"
  5. Confirm encryption when prompted
  6. Click "OK" to start conversion
Your existing archive is now password-protected.
